Our Ridgeland showroom has undergone quite an update recently, and we’re so excited to show you all of our new pieces! We update our floor fairly often because, if you didn’t know, we sell directly off our showroom floor! When you walk in and see something you love, that actual item can be yours! No waiting on a piece exactly like it to come in next month. The chair you see is the chair that can go home with you immediately (if you have room in your vehicle!)
We do also offer a white glove delivery service where you can have your new purchases delivered and placed in your home if they are more than your trunk can handle! 😉
So because we sell directly off our showroom floors, we end up with holes. We fill holes almost daily, but sometimes we just need a full out red0! So here’s the most recent Ridgeland redo. (Oxford’s recent redo will be posted next week!)
Things sure are looking sparkly at our Oxford location! We’ve got tons of art, gifts, and new furnishings, all adorned with a bit of holiday flair! Check out our latest showroom tour. Stop back by tomorrow for more! (We have so many pretty pictures that they won’t all fit in one post!)
See something you like? Leave a comment below, or give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you! And be sure to stop back by tomorrow! Merry (early) Christmas!
In case you missed yesterday’s post, we talked about all the new prettiness that awaits you at SummerHouse | Oxford! The floor looked so good that we couldn’t help but take tons of photos! Since they all wouldn’t really fit into one blog post, we’re doing a two-part series! Here is the rest of what you have awaiting you at SHOX… 🙂
While we have ya here, be sure to add the Lauren Barksdale Art Show to your calendar! Lauren will be at SummerHouse | Oxford on 10/20 (the day before the LSU game) with loads of art, much of which will be Oxford-themed! You can read more about that in this post! 🙂
You can always keep up with our upcoming events and specials (like sales!) by regularly checking our EVENTS page. 🙂 Thank y’all for all of your support and for reading today! Have a fantastic rest of the week!
It’s been a while since we gave you a peek inside our Ridgeland shop over here! Marty got the floor all fluffed up last week with new arrivals, all of which completely melt us! So many pretty new things! We are particularly fond of all the new Lynn Sanders art… What do you see that you’re most fond of?!
Did you see anything you want to know more about? Feel free to give us a call and ask a designer about what you see! OR simply leave a comment below and we’ll get in touch 🙂
Thank you for stopping by today! We hope you had a fantastic Easter weekend!
We are still on cloud nine after the grand opening of our Oxford location last week! Despite the bad weather, we had a wonderful turnout and were so excited to show our new digs off to our new Oxford friends!
The showroom looked gorgeous with lots of pretty + new, and the food was KILLER. Saint Leo catered and y’all. The food was insane. The best most of us have had in a while!
Here are a bunch of photos of the lovely night!
CHEERS to this new adventure in this lovely town. Thank you, Oxford, for being so welcoming!
Have a fantastic day and stay tuned for some more fun info about our big time Lee Loves Local event coming really soon!
You’ve met Olivia and Cara from our Oxford location. Now it’s time to meet Stacy! Stacy Stovall is the store manager at our pretty new location and we have loved having her as a part of the SummerHouse team! Get to know her a little better here!
Tell us a little about yourself!
I grew up in McComb, MS, went to Ole Miss, met my husband Tonquin Stovall, and have lived in Jackson for the last 24 years. We have 3 boys Adam, Clark and Shelby. We recently moved to Oxford in August. My husband has a mortgage company called HomeFirst Mortgage with an office in Oxford and in Jackson!
Tell us a little about your design background!
I have a Marketing degree from Ole Miss and have always had a passion for design. Early on I was in sales and marketing, but bought a store called Monogram Magic in 1999 until I sold it in 2010 to have the ability to attend more of my boys’ sporting events. I was immediately hired by Jackson Prep to start a school store from ground up and also worked as the Executive Director for Lefleur East. I got a phone call from Lisa Palmer the first week I moved to Oxford about running the new Summerhouse going in on the square. It has been so much fun watching all the renovations. Such a big transformation!!
Give us the number one reason you’re excited to be a part of the SummerHouse team.
The number one reason I am excited about the opportunity at Summerhouse is that I feel like it marries everything I have ever done or been involved in into one job. I love designing, managing and selling. I also think it is an amazing opportunity to get to learn from Lisa Palmer!
What is your favorite design publication?
My favorite magazine is Milieu magazine and I adore Pinterest for idea searching!
What’s the best movie you’ve seen recently and why?!
I’m sad to say that I haven’t been to a movie in over two years, so I can’t even remember… I know, pathetic!
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Favorite local restaurant at the moment is St. Leo’s!

Thank you Stacy! We’re loving getting to work with you!
Our showroom is currently filled with beautiful shades of one of our favorite colors: BLUE! We’re loving all shades of this magical, soothing hue and wanted to share a few snaps of this lovely tone accenting our floor!
Have a look!
Do you love blue as much as we do? It just such a happy color that goes with so much!
We hope you’re enjoying the last couple of weeks of summer before school starts back! Thanks for stopping by today! It means so much to us! XO!
We have a brand new artist here at SummerHouse whose art we are just crazy about! Our wonderful clients seem to be just as wild about it as we are because this work sure has garnered LOTS of attention!
Meet Lynn Sanders. This pretty lady sure can create some beautiful work! Get to know her just a little bit better!
Tell us a little about yourself! Where you’re from, about your family, etc…
I grew up in Lafayette, LA but after college, and living in various other states for work, my husband and I settled in Alexandria, Louisiana, where we have lived for the past fourteen years. We have a sixteen year old son, two cats and two dogs.
How long have you been painting? What got you into painting?
I was always your typical creative person growing up; taking art lessons and being in charge of school dance decorations. Prior to my art career I did management and marketing/special events for shopping centers. So there was a history of creativity. Finally, about ten years ago my cousin inspired me to start painting again. She is also an artist and lives in Memphis. I began by creating paintings for children’s rooms which morphed into painting abstractly. Six years ago I quit my day job and have never looked back.
How do you describe your style? It’s so beautiful, whimsy, and unique!! We love it!
I am an abstract expressionist so my style is free flowing. I do not get bogged down in the minute details of painting, but look at the big picture. Although the pieces take a while to complete I think they all reflect my impatience. The acrylic medium and tool I paint with really are reflective of my impatient nature. Although the pieces may take a while to complete my painting process is fast. I would love to paint small but my process just does not lend itself to small formats. Painting large is my real passion.
We have a great selection of your abstract pieces in our showroom. Is this your primary style, or do you have other styles/mediums you use that we don’t show here at SummerHouse?
I am always trying new processes and I feel my strokes and compositions have evolved over the past ten years. So you never know I may have a new style on the horizon. Lately I have incorporated linen textures to my canvases and this is something I am currently experimenting with. In the past, I have painted koi fish and birds. They are very specific to me and I do not paint the koi fish much anymore (painted them from 2006 – 2012). I have done birds since 2012 when I retired the koi. I think there are seven or eight bird paintings hanging in homes across the South. I do a couple of them a year. It’s good to step away from the abstracts for a bit.
What is the most exciting design project you’ve ever gotten to be a part of?!
Gosh, the best part of my job is going in so many wonderful homes!!! However, my most exciting project was being asked to do Charley G’s restaurant in Lafayette. The restaurant was being remodeled and they wanted a more contemporary feel and used my art to convey that idea. So all the artwork in the restaurant is mine. That’s pretty cool.
What would you say inspires your work most?
My mood, music, and my love for beautiful things are the biggest influences on my paintings. Whether it is a beautiful horizon or a lovely home, those are the things that inspire me to create. It is so humbling to see my work in the context of a beautiful room that has been artfully designed, either by the owner or interior designer. I have always had a passion for decorating so my work goes hand in hand with that.
What else do we need to know about you?!
I spent a month last summer living in an art colony on Nantucket Island. I have many funny stories from that experience. I had a wonderful time and hope to do it again in the future. Besides that, I love the beach, animals, tennis, novels by Jane Austen and the South!

We think the world of TSG Jackson’s editor Kristin and love the opportunity to get to work with her through being a part of The Scout Guide! We had a ball this year at our photo shoot for our ad, thanks to our incredible staff and TSG’s wonderful team! Thanks, Kristin (and photographer Tom Beck) for being so much fun to work with! 🙂
We have tons of copies at the store, so come by and pick up a couple for yourself and for friends! We look forward to seeing you!

More and more beautiful art just keeps finding its way into SummerHouse these days!! We are so excited to introduce you to yet another new artist whose work we are proudly displaying in our showroom! This artist’s name is Austin James and his work is jaw-dropping…
We are in love!
>> A little about Austin <<
“Austin began his art career in 1994 as a poet. His love for playing with words and phrases and his love for color naturally led him to experimenting with paint and motion. He started painting in 1996 and exhibiting as a professional artist in 1997. Austin believes that art is energy. Each human being has his or her own unique form of energy. An artist is capable of translating this energy into art. Austin’s pieces focus on organic shapes, color, the natural flow of matter and motion. His MFA from Naropa University in Poetry has infused a lyrical sensibility into Austin’s work.”
Fun fact about Austin: He is actually a professor of composition, literature, and poetry at Texas Southern University in Houston!
>> Artist Statement <<
I work in crushed pigments, oils, acrylic, resins and mixed media. The art is ethereal and organic by nature.
I love color, movement and lyricism in my art. My art is Diaphanous and ghostly; allowing for spheres of meditation. Each piece mimics “motion standing in place.”
I employ resin in order to create an altered and present reality. Resin pushes a successful painting to create a feel of stepping through a looking glass into a secret scene: a captured world.
My mission in art is to continue the tradition of the color field and lyrical abstractionist painters of the 20th century and contribute to the development of form through experimentation with techniques and materials.
We’re in love with all of the new art gracing our showroom floor these days! In case you missed the posts about the new Lauren Barksdale and Doug Kennedy pieces we have, you might want to check those out too!
The artist we want to introduce to you today is Margaret Moses! Her work is incredibly unique and mixes so well with what we have going on on our showroom floor. See?
Here’s a little more about Margaret herself:
Margaret Moses was born in December of 1974 in Houston, Texas. She moved to Monroe, Louisiana in 1982 and currently resides there. Margaret graduated from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 1998 with a degree in Interior Design. Her career includes seventeen years of interior design as well as ten years as an artist. A quote that inspires her, from grandfather and artist, Charles Schorre, is “Good characteristics for painting for me are: in doubt, outrageousness, mysteriously beautiful, unidentifiable elegance, and always inventive and uniquely my own.”
Margaret’s main medium used in her paintings is acrylic, as well as the use of various textural agents, ink, oil pastels, and paper. She draws her inspiration through the organic forms, textures, and colors found in nature. Her work has been featured in the 2013 and 2014 St. Jude Dream Homes and the 2013 Design Show House in Monroe, Louisiana, as well as in Delta Style and Bayou Life magazines. Margaret’s work is included in the corporate collections of Capital One in Virginia and Texas, as well as private collections in Monroe and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jackson, Mississippi, Austin, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
Do you see why we love Margaret’s work so much?! For more information on any of the pieces you see, please feel free to leave a comment or give us a call. (601-853-4445) We’d love to help!
Our High Point Market recap continues! Yesterday, we shared the highlights from our visit to Vanguard. Today, let’s see what was going on at Hickory Chair!
This trip started off with some real excitement because we got to meet the gorgeous and oh-so-talented Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita, a blog that our whole staff adores! She was very sweet and so easy to talk to!
Then we started our way around the showroom. This bright and happy setting was what greeted us right as we walked in!
Suzanne Kasler’s portion of the showroom was to die for, as usual!
Suzanne was SO nice. We just love visiting with her!
Alexa Hampton went with some big, bold colors in her portion of the showroom! It was rich, colorful, and super different, but we loved it!
Here are a few other snaps from the rest of the tour…
