With St. Paddy’s day only a couple of days away, we thought it would be a great time to celebrate one of nature’s favorite hues: GREEN! From mint to emerald, sage to moss, and everything in between, the many shades of green always seem to be beautifully calming.
Here are a few green beauties we currently have in the showroom!
Yesterday, we started showing you a few of the beautiful new pieces on the showroom floor, but there was too much to squeeze into just one post! So here are a few more shots of our beautiful new inventory just waiting to go to a good home! (YOUR home!) 😉
See anything you just have to have? Or anything you want to know more about? Feel free to leave us a comment or give us a call and we’ll get you what you need!
As we do just about every week, we’ve added some beautiful new inventory to our showroom floor! New beauties from Mitchell Gold, Vanguard, LEE Industries, Dransfield and Ross, and many others have done a fabulous job of freshening up the store and giving us lots of new pieces to become obsessed over!
Have a look.
If you have any questions about any of the pieces you see, feel free to leave a comment or give us a call! One of our friendly designers would love to assist you!
Here’s a quick teaser about the 2-day install Lisa, Elish, and Brittany had in Watercolor, Florida earlier this week! Lisa’s design talent never ceases to amaze us! 🙂 Stay tuned for more pictures coming soon!
Meet Chelsea Sirmons (that’s Sirmons with an “r!”), our new Design Assistant! She just moved to Mississippi from Georgia and we have loved getting to know her! We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her a little better, too!
Laurel: You just moved here from Georgia, right? What made you move to good ‘ol Mississippi?
Chelsea: My husband, Brad, received a job offer and we made the move from Savannah, Georgia at the end of September.
Laurel: What interiors magazine or blog do you find the most inspirational?
Chelsea: I find inspiration almost anywhere! My favorite interiors magazine would definitely be Traditional Home, though.
Laurel: What are three items that you just absolutely cannot live without?
Chelsea: Coffee would probably be the only item… I absolutely cannot live without my family and friends!
Laurel: What’s your favorite movie?
Chelsea: Gone with the Wind… Love the story, the setting, the characters portrayed…
Laurel: Coffee, Traditional Home, Gone with the Wind… You’re our kind of girl! 😉 Anything else we should know about you?!
Chelsea: I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Interior Design. Fun fact… I have an identical twin sister who is also an interior designer!
Thanks Chelsea! And thanks for all the major help you’ve given everyone up here so far! Do yourself a favor and come meet this girl! (We have a new designer, so while you’re at it, come meet him too! You can read all about Todd in an older post!) In the words of Lisa Palmer, “This girl is the queen of organizing!” Chelsea, you’re just what SummerHouse needed!
Have you been by the store to meet Elish yet? She is Lisa’s amazing new assistant!! (Laurel is starting a new chapter and is no longer a full-timer at the store, but is still doing all of the social media, so she’s still around!)
Elish is a great addition to the SummerHouse team and is fitting right in! 🙂 Her organization skills, eye for fashion (both in interiors and in wearable fashion), and her cute personality make her a joy to work with! Let’s get to know her a little better, shall we?
SummerHouse: So your name is kinda different but super pretty!! Can you tell us a little bit about the origination of that?
Elish: My name….my mom’s family is Italian and Elizabeth is the trademark family name that gets worked in somehow on every girl’s name. My Dad is Irish, so they compromised and named me Elish which is gaelic for Elizabeth. Hence, the odd name.
SummerHouse: What has been the biggest shock about your new job at SummerHouse?! You’ve only been here a few weeks, but there has to be something that surprised you or caught you offguard!
Elish: I think my biggest shock at Summerhouse was how much of the business side of Interior Design I’d be doing…
SummerHouse: What is your favorite thing to cook and why?
Elish: My favorite thing to cook is either my chicken pesto salad because I made it up and it’s pretty different from traditional chicken salad. Or I love cooking crawfish fettuccine…I have a great recipe that isn’t too hard but tastes great!
SummerHouse: What is your favorite movie? Why?
Elish: Hmmm favorite movie is a tough one…I’d say Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken because I grew up watching it and I’m a sucker for those kinds of movies. Or Last of the Mohicans…I always watch it with my dad and the music is incredible.
SummerHouse: How would you describe your own personal design style?
Elish: My personal design style is better described by the designers I respect…in fashion, as well as interior design. I love Alberta Ferretti, Kelly Wearstler, Zac Posen, Elizabeth & James, Robert Kuo… I’m usually drawn to clean lines broken up by rich textiles, any type of sleek surface like mirrors and metallic finishes, & cool colors or grayed neutrals.
SummerHouse: When you are not partaking in your new favorite hobby, which is to work at SummerHouse, what are your other hobbies?!
Elish: Well I love running and being outside so that’s a pretty big hobby, I love to cook and have people over for dinner, & I have 4 nephews and a brand new little niece that I love to visit! 🙂
SummerHouse: Tell us one weird thing about you that we may find interesting, or that not many people know
Elish: One weird thing? So hard to choose….haha Well I am an OCD bed maker. It’s weird. I make mine every morning no matter what. Even if I know I’m going to wash my sheets that night. And I sometimes can’t help myself and make other peoples beds…It makes the whole room look instantly put together!
SummerHouse: Anything else you want us to know?! 🙂
Elish: I love working at Summerhouse and I’m thankful I have so many amazing, sweet people to be around everyday!
This morning we had so much fun with the ladies who are compiling the story for the next issue of Portico Jackson Magazine! Amanda Wells, a local journalist, and Daphne Nabors, local photographer, met us at our customers’ home to chat about design! Portico contacted us a couple of weeks ago requesting a green room to run in their March issue, so this is the first one that popped into mind! Then we started thinking…. “Do they mean eco-friendly green or the color green?” They did indeed mean the COLOR green, so we knew we had the perfect project for them to showcase! As Daphe worked her magic behind the lens, Amanda talked to Lisa and the homeowner about the purpose and concept behind the beautiful design. Here is a peek behind the scenes of the photo shoot. We can’t wait to see the finished project! 🙂
The art above the Clifton sectional is by Trevor, one of the many talented artists represented at View Gallery. His color palette and style are always so much fun!
All of the fabrics you see here (minus the Adler throw) can be easily spot cleaned with soap and water. How perfect for a kids’ hangout room, right?!
Such a fun color scheme! This makes us want to be a kid all over again…
The orange Mottega lamp adds so much to the space.
Fun Jonathan Adler accessories and books accent the whole room!
This entertainment console (and the bookshelf, not pictured) are from a very cool and modern company called Blu Dot. They make some great looking furniture!
As we were playing on the Jonathan Adler site, a few of their new items just really grabbed us! We have some of this at the store, and have the capability to order any of it! They get more and more creative every season, and that is exactly why we love them!
