SummerHouse Interior Designer Jacque
Jacque Moor

We have a brand new designer in training around here who you need to get to know! Her name is Jacquelyn Moor (she goes by Jacque), and she is just as cute as she is sweet! She can also pull a room together like it’s nobody’s business…

We are very excited to have her on our ever-growing team and think she will make a wonderful addition to our talented design staff!

We did a little Q&A to get to know her a bit better…

1. Tell us a little about yourself!

I was born and raised in Mobile, AL. Everyone in my family is a teacher… and then there’s me! The creative one. I couldn’t ask for better parents or brother, who is one of my best friends and protector. I have a passion for interior design and feel truly blessed to be doing what I love for the rest of my life. I used to cut out rooms from my mother and grandmother’s magazines that I loved, and when my brother would let me, I would build lego restaurants and houses for his lego men!

I also have the most cheerful, cuddly golden retriever named Manning who my wonderful boyfriend, Taylor, and I spoil.

2. From what school did you get your design degree and what was your favorite design class you took?

I graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. It’s hard to choose just one class I loved because there were so many. I was able to express my own design creativity all throughout college in every class.

3. If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Well everywhere really! I have a fascination with all different cultures! So I guess as of today, my dream vacation would be exploring all the historic architecture, delicious cuisine, and exotic coastlines of France, Italy, and Spain! Then it would be off to Switzerland for the same exploring but most importantly it’s where I want to go skydiving! My brother studied abroad while he was in college and went skydiving in Switzerland and I have been jealous and determined to go ever since. The end this particular vacation would be in Greece because of it’s many wonders and endless miles of aquamarine coastline.

A few other places I would love to explore would be Egypt, South Africa, China, Australia, and if possible every state in the U.S.

4. What’s the best movie you’ve seen lately?
I like movies, but I love TV more! My top favorites are Scandal, Criminal Minds or Law and Order, Revenge, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones, and Modern Family (thanks to Taylor, the boyfriend.)

5. What’s your favorite source for design inspiration?

Absolutely everything… from interior design magazines to Pinterest to Houzz to just seeing something throughout my day that sparks a creative thought for a design. My true inspiration is what the client envisions. I love taking all their thoughts about how they want their space to look and feel and then creative it.

6. What’s your favorite way to spend a lazy weekend?

Believe it or not i’m a tad OCD, so cleaning, organizing and laundry are relaxing to me! But i’m always okay with a long pool/beach day or a rainy sofa day.

7. What else do we need to know about you?

I lived in Hawaii for about 5 years when I was very young because my father was in the Coast Guard. I remember bits and pieces from being there like the house layout and my older brother picking on me like an older brother does!

My grandmother, who I call Mor-Mor, is my idol and the strongest women I know.

My Father is from Oak Harbor, Ohio… yep that’s right Ohio! We have a lot of family there that is multiplying!

I love pizza and could be the poster child for Coca Cola.

I’m a messy perfectionist.

If you cry, I’ll cry.

Daydreaming, twisting my hair, and sleep walking/talking are my bad habbits.

I’m a believer in retail therapy.

I love inspirational quotes.
