Happy Friday to you!

We hope you guys have enjoyed our new Inside The Orange Box column that we’ve been adding to every Friday! Today’s edition is different from what we’ve been doing, but useful and interesting nonetheless!

Today, two of our designers style the same coffee table in their very own ways (without getting to see how the other designer styled it!) They each share a few tips and ideas on what went into their thought processes! We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed putting it together!

One Coffee Table, Two Ways by two Interior Designers // SummerHouse

DESIGN #1 BY DESIGNER ELISH PHARES

Elish shares a bit about her design:

“I thought the beautiful driftwood coffee table called for a down-to-earth lake house vibe. When accessorizing a coffee table I usually divide the space into quadrants. This helps the task seem a bit more manageable.

I broke form a bit by using the large statement greyhound as a focal point. Everything else supported, rather than distracted from that large piece.

I firmly believe one can never have too many books – choosing books with complimentary bindings helps create a cohesive palette as well. Varying heights also aids in creating a layered look. Hint: Build height from the outside in, bottom to top.”

DESIGN #2 BY DESIGNER KATY HINES

Katy gives the ins and outs on her design:

“For the overall design, I went with a palette of whites and creams to lend a soft look then added a deep blue for a punch of color and contrast.

I love to accessorize with books. They tell a story and make your space personal. Display books about the things you love – design, gardening, cooking…whatever interests you!

Fresh cut flowers can bring a room to life and instantly welcome you into a space. If you don’t have the time (or patience), go artificial! SummerHouse has some beautiful arrangements to help you achieve this look.

Trays help to create a layered look without cluttering your space. Add one or two thoughtful accessories. This can be something sentimental or it might just be your favorite decor item like a piece of pottery or a small sculpture.”

Thank you, Elish and Katy! We love both designs and how different they are from one another!
