The beautiful weather and warmer temperatures lately have had us thinking often about the beach! Although we can’t necessarily pick up and go whenever we wish, we can quickly add some blue and natural beachy elements to the design of our homes to help accomplish a goal similar to a 30A vacation!
Spring has sprung and we are looking for easy ways to brighten up our interiors! Adding some bright accessories, some happy art, and burning outdoorsy candles are all perfect ways to up your Spring game!
We are SO excited about the huge shipment of new Lynn Sanders art we just got in last week! Lynn’s art quickly became some of our most favorite because of her unique style and her impeccable use of color! We have several of her large canvas pieces adorning our showroom walls. This most recent shipment, however, was of lots of lovely little small pieces!! These unframed originals, in all different sizes, start at just $95. What perfect gifts these would make for just about anyone! AND, we have some great connections when it comes to framing, so we can help you take care of that part, too, if you wish!
We are SO in love with these that we got a little photo happy… So… Here are a ton of photos of these beautiful new pieces. They are all so pretty, though, we didn’t think you’d mind lots of pictures! 😉
Just last week, our showroom filled up with the prettiest artwork from one of our favorite new artists, Lynn Sanders! We love Lynn’s use of color and her style is just beautiful!! We actually did a fun interview with her not too long ago if you want to check that out!
Here are a few of the pieces we currently have in the showroom. Of course, they’re even prettier in person, so come see them for yourself if you’re able to get by! You’ll be so inspired!
See what we mean?! How gorgeous?! We love every single piece.
We hope all of you had the best weekend! Thanks for dropping in today! 🙂
We have a few new groupings on the showroom floor that are simply breathtaking! Beautiful color mixed with perfect neutrals… Lovely accessories, unique art, one of a kind pieces… Here are a few snaps of the newest vignettes!
If you see anything you like, give us a call (601-842-7784) or leave a comment below to find out more! We are happy to answer any questions! 🙂
Thank you for checking in with us today! Hope you have a great one!
You might have seen the post we did several weeks ago featuring designer Katie Carone and the living room she put together on a tighter budget! She did a beautiful job, so this time, we put designer Mary Courtney Johns to the test!
Mary Courtney has pulled together a drool-worthy bedroom that looks like it cost about three times what it actually totaled! This room is under $15,000!
Do keep in mind that this is ALL new furniture, so even if $15,000 doesn’t seem low to you, picking just a few new pieces for a certain room can really bring your existing pieces to life by only spending a fraction of this.
Our designers are experts in merging your existing furniture with perfectly selected new pieces to bring the utmost style to your space without breaking the bank!
We think Mary Courtney did a fantastic job of sourcing her specs from our more moderately priced (yet still very good quality) designer lines! Here’s her project!
Queen bed // $3530
Queen Coverlet // $455
Pair of Euro Shams // $130 each
Pair of faux fur accent pillows on bed // $210 each
Pair of Bedside Tables // $1370 each
Pair of Lamps // $345 each
8 x 10 Rug // $1865
Pair of Benches // $924 each
Artwork pair // $1500 each
Room Total // $14,808
“I started this design off with a bed that would make a statement and followed with complimentary, budget friendly options that would only elevate the overall space. These selections, being that they are neutral and transitional, can easily be moved to a guest bedroom years down the road if the homeowner is wanting a change in their own bedroom. I love a portion of high contrast in interiors and used the intensity in the footstools and artwork to play up this feature. The paint color used is Benjamin Moore Intense White, which is an almost white with a tint warm gray; a wonderful backdrop for the deeper tones so they really stand out! It looks much more gray in the image above, but on a wall, it looks whiter!”
Give Mary Courtney a call (601-853-4445) if you want to know more about any of these pieces! Way to go for pulling together such gorgeousness, Mary Courtney!
Our showroom is currently filled with beautiful shades of one of our favorite colors: BLUE! We’re loving all shades of this magical, soothing hue and wanted to share a few snaps of this lovely tone accenting our floor!
Have a look!
Do you love blue as much as we do? It just such a happy color that goes with so much!
We hope you’re enjoying the last couple of weeks of summer before school starts back! Thanks for stopping by today! It means so much to us! XO!
Well, Atlanta Food and Wine Festival 2016 is officially in the books! Lisa had a blast being a part of the Rathbuns’ Watch List Event which was part of the festival! Her space turned out beautifully, and she loved getting to work with Chef John Lasater! We have heard rave reviews from attendees about the food and the beautiful space! Total WIN!
Watching the space come together was very rewarding, as are all installations! Here’s a little start-to-finish for you!
Camille, Marty, and Lisa did a fabulous job of getting things together, and the help provided by ADAC was wonderful!
Here are a few more shots. WE LOVE!
This pretty girl’s name ended up being Sassafras, and she absolutely STOLE THE SHOW! She was captured by photographer Karen Sachar, whom you can find out more about here!
Here is Lisa with all of the other talented designers who were a part of the Rathbuns event!

Beautiful work, Lisa! Every detail is perfection. And this, folks, is why she’s our design leader! 🙂
We have a brand new artist here at SummerHouse whose art we are just crazy about! Our wonderful clients seem to be just as wild about it as we are because this work sure has garnered LOTS of attention!
Meet Lynn Sanders. This pretty lady sure can create some beautiful work! Get to know her just a little bit better!
Tell us a little about yourself! Where you’re from, about your family, etc…
I grew up in Lafayette, LA but after college, and living in various other states for work, my husband and I settled in Alexandria, Louisiana, where we have lived for the past fourteen years. We have a sixteen year old son, two cats and two dogs.
How long have you been painting? What got you into painting?
I was always your typical creative person growing up; taking art lessons and being in charge of school dance decorations. Prior to my art career I did management and marketing/special events for shopping centers. So there was a history of creativity. Finally, about ten years ago my cousin inspired me to start painting again. She is also an artist and lives in Memphis. I began by creating paintings for children’s rooms which morphed into painting abstractly. Six years ago I quit my day job and have never looked back.
How do you describe your style? It’s so beautiful, whimsy, and unique!! We love it!
I am an abstract expressionist so my style is free flowing. I do not get bogged down in the minute details of painting, but look at the big picture. Although the pieces take a while to complete I think they all reflect my impatience. The acrylic medium and tool I paint with really are reflective of my impatient nature. Although the pieces may take a while to complete my painting process is fast. I would love to paint small but my process just does not lend itself to small formats. Painting large is my real passion.
We have a great selection of your abstract pieces in our showroom. Is this your primary style, or do you have other styles/mediums you use that we don’t show here at SummerHouse?
I am always trying new processes and I feel my strokes and compositions have evolved over the past ten years. So you never know I may have a new style on the horizon. Lately I have incorporated linen textures to my canvases and this is something I am currently experimenting with. In the past, I have painted koi fish and birds. They are very specific to me and I do not paint the koi fish much anymore (painted them from 2006 – 2012). I have done birds since 2012 when I retired the koi. I think there are seven or eight bird paintings hanging in homes across the South. I do a couple of them a year. It’s good to step away from the abstracts for a bit.
What is the most exciting design project you’ve ever gotten to be a part of?!
Gosh, the best part of my job is going in so many wonderful homes!!! However, my most exciting project was being asked to do Charley G’s restaurant in Lafayette. The restaurant was being remodeled and they wanted a more contemporary feel and used my art to convey that idea. So all the artwork in the restaurant is mine. That’s pretty cool.
What would you say inspires your work most?
My mood, music, and my love for beautiful things are the biggest influences on my paintings. Whether it is a beautiful horizon or a lovely home, those are the things that inspire me to create. It is so humbling to see my work in the context of a beautiful room that has been artfully designed, either by the owner or interior designer. I have always had a passion for decorating so my work goes hand in hand with that.
What else do we need to know about you?!
I spent a month last summer living in an art colony on Nantucket Island. I have many funny stories from that experience. I had a wonderful time and hope to do it again in the future. Besides that, I love the beach, animals, tennis, novels by Jane Austen and the South!

Many thanks to Lynn for allowing us to get to know her a little bit better! Stop by the showroom or check out our online shop to see more of Lynn’s work! It’s safe to say that we’re obsessed with her beautiful colors and style! 🙂
We gave our newest designer Katie Carone the task of putting together a living room with all new furniture but on a somewhat tight budget! She’s put this entire room together for under $15,000! Now keep in mind that this is ALL new furniture, so even if $15,000 doesn’t seem low to you, picking just a few new pieces for a certain room can really bring your existing pieces to life by only spending a fraction of this.
We love the beautiful living room she’s put together using our more well-priced designer lines! Here is more information on each piece!
Art // $1140
Cowhide Rug // $540
Grace Coffee Table // $2245
Callie Lamps // $685 each
Cole Drinking Table // $1085
Albion Sofa with three contrast pillows // $2431
Franco Chairs // $1716 each
Jolene Side Table // $855
Trudy Oval Side Table // $855
8 x 10 Sedona Sisal Rug // $390
Grand total // $14,343
Katie went with one of Lisa’s favorite design M.O.s that she calls “high/low.” This is where, even if most pieces in a space are budget conscious (or “low”), splurging on a couple of items (“high”) can really elevate the level of the entire design. Katie’s splurges were the lamps and the drinking table.
“The lamps are very transitional pieces and could be used throughout the house in several different places. On console tables, on bedside tables… So many places! And I love the acrylic base. It gives it an element of high design.”
“I aboslutely drool over that drinking table. Black and gold is my obsession! I know it’s more expensive, but when you find one piece you absolutely love, you just can’t compromise. It gives the room that wow factor!”
“I love the idea of ordering a sofa that comes standard with contrast pillows like this one. You can order them in a different fabric and use them somewhere completely different, like on a guest bed or in some side chairs.”
“Revere Pewter is one of my absolute favorite paint colors– it would be really nice in this room. I love that you can use browns and grays with it!”

Thank you so much, Katie! We love what you’ve pulled together! If you have any more questions about these pieces, give Katie a call! 601-853-4445
You may remember seeing the Orange Box post about favorite regional/local artists of Elish, Lindsey, and Camille a couple of weeks ago! Today, a few more designers weigh in on whose work they’re currently loving!
DESIGNER TODD PRINCE
I have two… And they create two very different types of art!
The first is Rod Moorhead. Lately I’ve love affair with sculpture. Rod Moorhead’s are amazingly unique and you can’t take your eyes off of them. They’re so complex and unique and emit such a mood in a room. They’re beautiful! The construction is so fragile but the end result looks indescrutable. However, don’t let them fall on the floor! They’re dark and moody, yet uplifting and gorgreous all at the same time. They look like old world relics but they have a great modern twist, so they incorporate well into almost any interior.
The other is Andrew Bucci. I’m drawn to the color and the movement in his work. It’s very active and bright and happy. I love seeing the deep collection of his work at Brown’s and I really enjoy placing them in clients’ homes.
DESIGNER KATY HINES SANDERS
I love Lauren Barksdale. Her mix of color and the softness and subtlety of her work is beautiful. Her pieces blend well with many different style interiors making her one of my go-to artists here at the showroom!
DESIGNER MARY COURTNEY JOHNS
Beth Winterburn from Memphis, TN is really grabbing my attention! I have a critical eye when it comes to abstract works of art and hers are my kind of abstract. I can tell there is a lot of thought behind her placement of certain elements in her pieces and I appreciate her decisions. Also, her color choices could not be better!
We love all of these selections!! Do you have a favorite?
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a GREAT one!
We are so proud of our friend and talented Mississippi artist Dyann Gunter for having a piece of her art placed at the Seaside, Florida home of renowned chef Emeril Lagasse! The oh-so-beautiful Veranda Magazine did a spread on his beachside bungalow (which you can see fully HERE) and included some GREAT shots of Dyann’s work!
Also featured in these photos are pieces from other favorites Tara Shaw and Fabricut!
For more pieces by Dyann, stop by the showroom and see what we have currently available! Or shop some of her smaller pieces on our web store here!
